So many Prevosts's
I travelled last Friday from Denver to Omaha for a wedding, and I would say I saw at least 15-20 Prevosts on I-80 (heading West as I was heading East). Then, on Monday when I was travelling back, I saw probably 25-30 on I-80 heading East (I was heading west back home). Was there some kind of Prevost convention going on somewhere? Or was it just that there were alot of Prevost's running around? I have never seen so many in one day in my life. Just curious.
RE: Revenue Agent Searching for Montana llc's
why is it that a lot of big corporations incorporate in Delaware?
bumpy
Advantages:
Delaware's corporation laws are very progressive/inclined towards the interests of corporate entities.
Delaware's corporate laws allow a fairly high level of autonomy/privacy protection for officer/directors (of corps), and managers/members (of llc's).
Delaware's court system is also very progressive/inclined towards the interests of corporate entities. If a major lawsuit were to be brought against your corporation/llc, it is advantageous to be able to have the dispute tried in DE courts.
In the day to day business of these entities (financing deals/closings/mergers/etc), DE is a very easy state to make the necessary filings in. Also, when you need a good standing, or a certified copy of a document on file in DE, it can be obtained in a matter of hours (unlike some states, i.e. CA which takes about 7-10 days to get a copy of a business entity filing from the Secretary of State, California).
Disadvantage:
Franchise Tax Fees in the state of DE are based on the stock structure of the corporation and can be very hefty if the corporation has alot of stock issued and/or the par value of the stock is a dollar or more (this is issued stock, not the value of stock being held by the public as investments). For LLC's, it is not so bad, they simply file an annual franchise tax return every year and the filing fee is $25.00 along with a $200.00 franchise tax bill.
In this day and age, most of your huge businesses (i.e. McDonalds, Hewlett Packard, Conoco, etc.) are all DE entities, with the vast majority of them being an LLC Holding Company that ultimately owns/manages all of the other entities associated with the family of companies. This is all legal and the state of Delaware caters to this (I believe that about 80% of the state of Delawares annual budget (other than taxes on the state's population, i.e. sales tax, income tax, etc.) is raised by the Secretary of State, Delaware office.
RE: Dish/Direct Questions
From what I understand, if you hit 110 West, you are also pointed at 119 West (but I could be wrong, see my post right above yours with a dilemma I had last weekend).
kplender
I got Satelite 110 West, But not 119 West (Dish)?
Went camping last weekend and I found the 110 West satellite from DISH no problem. However, I could not get it to lock on to 119 West. I ran a Check Switch, everything I could think of, but to no avail. These 2 satellites are in the same location in the sky, aren't they? Any ideas on what I did wrong? Any ideas on how to correct this? I use the same receiver from the house as I do in my RV (I unplug it and take it along whenever we head out camping). I do have a portable Dish 500 that I have in the RV and use that with a portable mounting stand. When I got home, I plugged the receiver back in and it worked just fine (I was able to get the 110 and 119 satellites). Thanks in advance!!
Toilet bowl won't hold water.
The water in the toilet bowl leaks past the trap and down into the tank. As a result, I am getting some smell coming up from the tank. I have used a coat hanger to dig around in the slot where the cap slides into to make sure there is no "debris" in there causing it to not seal correctly. That did not fix the problem. Any ideas on how to remedy this short of installing new seals? Any good recommendations for something to pour/squirt in there that might help a "dry" seal expand and seal better? Thanks in advance.
Tornadoes in North Central Colorado in last hour.
A number of tornadoes have struck north central Colorado (around the Fort Collins area) and all the way up to Laramie, WY. One person is confirmed dead in Windsor, Colorado (about 60 miles straight north of Denver). The really bad thing about these storms in Colorado is that they keep moving east and pick up more energy over the eastern Colorado plains, and then strike Nebraska and Kansas in the middle of the night when noone sees them coming and are less prepared. Hope for the best!!
Anyone know of cheap tire covers?
I am getting new tires on Friday, and as a little insurance, I am going to buy tire covers for all exposed tires (I need 6 of them cause I have a tag axle). I have 16 inch tires. Anyone know of a good source that sells them for cheap? Camping World is not cheap. I found them at JC Whitney for $24.99 for a single. They also have tandem covers, but do you think that will work on mine with the tag axle? It appears they are geared towards a tandem axle on a pull trailer (the tag axle seems to be spaced further apart from the drive axle than the spacing on a pull trailer with 2 axles). What do you think? If I remember, I bought some online a few years ago for my old motorhome and I thought I paid about $16.00 each. Thanks in advance!!
RE: Storage in America
This is really going to depend on where you want to store it, and how you want to store it. In the Denver, Colorado area, you could store that RV outside for about $60.00 a month. If you wanted it stored indoors, you can easily triple or quadruple that amount (still alot less than $40,000.00 of course). I am sure that in some areas the cost to store could be significantly higher (but again, it would never get close to $40,000.00). Sounds like a good plan.
RE: Need A Place To Stay: N. Colorado/Cheyenne Area
If you are thinking of staying in Ft. Collins and driving to Cheyenne, check out Heron Lake RV park www.heronlakerv.com. This is really a beautiful park.
Well, I just checked out the website, and it appears this may now be a KOA campground, but still worth checking out.
RE: Dangers of tires six years old
Wow, more than 100 hundred deaths? Another example of the media scaring people for no reason. More people die from drowing in their bathtubs every year. I guess they will have to start posting warning signs on bathtubs too. Give me a break (not the poster, the media).
How to replace seal on Power Gear Leveler?
I have a PowerGear leveler system on my 1997 Bounder. I dropped down the driver side front leveler the other day, and when I looked at it after about an hour, I had a puddle of fluid under the jack. I assume the seal is bad. How do you replace it? Is this something a fairly good backyard mechanic can do on their own? Thanks in advance!!
RE: Old Ford F53 exhaust manifolds worth anything?
My first trip out will be over Memorial Day weekend. Heading up to Golden Gate State Park which is west of Golden, Colorado about 20 miles or so up in the Rockies. On the route I take, right after Central City, there is a hill that I typically run up going about 23-25 mph with the engine screaming at 3800 rpm, in low gear. If I can climb that hill in 2nd gear at about 43-45 mph, I will be a happy camper. We'll see. It sure sounds like a Hot Rod now :)
I will report back after the trip and let everyone know how much improvement I see. I am not expecting any increase in mpg, but if I get any, it will just be a bonus. Thanks.
RE: Changing Plugs
I just got done doing mine on Saturday. I actually finished up doing the whole Banks exhaust system on my 1997 bounder with Ford 460. The plugs were real easy to get at from below (of course, I am sure the situation could be different from manufacturer to manufacturer). I turned the front wheels completely to the left (when working on the right side) and I could literally crawl into the opening and was sitting looking directly at the exhaust manifolds and spark plugs (for working on the left side, turn the wheels all the way to the right). With the stock manifolds, it was pretty easy to get at the plugs with a socket and ratchet. Now that I have the Banks headers in, it is even easier to get at the plugs. It is somewhat tight in there, but unless you are bigger than I am (5 ft. 11 inch., 200 lbs.) you should be able to get in there no problem. Whatever you do, don't get the plugs from Ford, they wanted about $5.00 a plug. I went to the local auto parts store and paid $2.69 a plug. They are Motorcraft SP502's. The manual for mine called for something like ASF P45 (or something like that, I can't remember exactly), but the SP502 is the same plug, it is just the new part number assigned to it by Ford (the box from Motorcraft has SP502 on the box itself, but when you pulled the plug out it has the old numbers on it). Gap is .044. Hope that makes sense. If you have any questions just PM me. Good Luck!!
Old Ford F53 exhaust manifolds worth anything?
I completed the install of the Banks exhaust system on my 1997 Bounder on the F53 chassis (460 Ford). My old exhaust manifolds are in good shape (surprisingly no cracks, warpage, etc.). Are they worth anything? Or should I just bring them to the local recycler?
What water pump to buy?
My water pump is letting water backflow through the pump. As a result, my fresh water tank fills up over time, and the pump cycles on for about 2 seconds every minute or so. I went to Camping World and they have the "rebuild" kit, but it cost $49.99. Heck for about $10.00 to $20.00 more, I can buy a new one. What pump would you recommend? I do not need anything fancy, super quiet, high pressure, etc. I just want the cheapest (dollar wise) pump I can get that is of good quality. Oh yeah, this is for my 1997 Bounder. Thanks.
RE: Yellowstone Driving Big Rigs
Yes, you can drive a 40ft. big rig from Fishing Bridge to West Yellowstone, no problem (other than running into traffic jams because of the wildlife gawkers). I wouldn't want to be exploring the park in a big rig, but to get from one place to the other, not a problem.
Spark Plug recommendation?
I am installing the BANKS headers/exhaust system on my 1997 F-53 with 460 this saturday (removed the old system last Saturday). I figure while I'm in there I might as well replace the spark plugs. Any recommendations on brand/part number? Thanks in advance!!
RE: Campgrounds between Cheyenne,WY and Custer ,SD taking SR 85
There is a full hookup campground between Lingle and Ft Laramie, WY....Pony Soldier RV Park. We've stayed there twice when visiting relatives. Also an interesting little museum on the same grounds.
That's the one I was talking about. It is an adequate campground for an overnight stay, however, the trains were rolling by and blowing their whistle's all night long.
